Metaverse is expected to have a profound impact on the lives of 66% of people around the world.

Nearly two-thirds of consumers in 29 countries expect XR-based apps to play an important role in their lives in the next decade, according to a new survey.

The poll was conducted by Ipsos S.A., a global market research and consultancy business based in Paris.

It was performed between April 22 and May 6 using Ipsos‘ Global Adviser online survey platform and the results were released at the end of May.

Half of all persons throughout the world were enthusiastic about the metaverse, and 52 percent were aware of it, according to the survey.

A total of 500 to 1,000 participants from as many as 29 nations were polled for the study.

Developing countries are more enthusiastic about the metaverse and extended reality than their industrialized counterparts, according to the study.

More than two-thirds of those polled in countries including China, India, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia said they were open to the idea.

Seventy-five percent of those polled in India thought it was a good idea to use extended reality on a daily basis.

They also indicated an interest in the metaverse’s potential uses in a wide variety of businesses.

Only one-third of respondents in Japan, Great Britain, Belgium, Canada, France, and Germany were favorable about it.

More than two-thirds of those polled in Turkey, India, China, and South Korea have heard of virtual reality, augmented reality, and the metaverse. One-third of those surveyed didn’t know what a metaverse was in any of these countries.

The metaverse piqued the curiosity of men and those with a higher level of education more so than women, older persons, and those without a college degree.
